Moto Guzzi Debuts In India With Dealership At Gurgaon

The Italian high performance motorcycle brand, Moto Guzzi has made its Indian debut with its first showroom/dealership at Gurgaon. The dealership name is Northwards Motors and this Moto Guzzi dealership is also the second dealership of Aprilia in India. The first dealership is located in Pune. It’s known that both Aprilia and Moto Guzzi are owned by Piaggio and the company has decided that the Aprilia dealership at Gurgaon will be sharing space with the Moto Guzzi brand as well. The dealership is already functional and currently a service center is under construction. The service center is located close to the dealership and is expected to go operational within a month.

However the dealership has already started accepted bookings for Moto Guzzi motorcycles. Currently the Griso 1200 8V is open for booking. The Griso 1200 8V is powered by a four-stroke, V-twin, 1151cc engine that produces 110 BHP of power. This engine is mated to a six speed gearbox. Moto Guzzi is however yet to unveil its motorcycle offering line-up for the Indian market which we expect the company will release in the first half of 2013. Moto Guzzi has some fine motorcycles in its product stable and we hope Piaggio brings them to the Indian market very soon. The 2013 year is already looking very promising for the biking enthusiasts.

KTM Thinking On A Sub-200cc Duke For India? 180cc Duke?

KTM hit the headlines whenever it comes out with any news. This time, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer revealed in an interview that KTM is thinking about offering a sub-200cc Duke in the Indian market. The sub-200cc model will help KTM to expand its volumes and help KTM to have a wider reach of its products among different kinds of motorcycle buyers. However, if you are getting the idea that KTM will be bringing the Duke 125 (which is currently assembled at the Bajaj Auto factory and exported to European countries) to India, there is no such thing going to happen. Such a thing is practically not feasible since it will be difficult to meet emission norms with the Duke 125 and moreover will be coming at a price point close to the Duke 200.
In fact, what KTM means by a sub-200cc model is that they will be introducing a Duke 180 in the market. The Duke 180 will however, not borrow the engine from the Pulsar 180 but it will be based on the 200cc engine of the Duke 200. The 180cc Duke is still in the contemplation stages and no concrete plans have been chalked out yet. For KTM to make the Duke 180 successful in the Indian market, they have to be very strategic with its pricing. Making the engine smaller alone will not help the company to gain some advantage. Certain other things like the fuel injection system (offering a carburettor in place of  fuel injector), mix of analog and digital console (as opposed to the all digital console of the Duke 200), re-calibrated ECU to help improve the fuel economy and so on.

In my opinion, it will be difficult to make changes to the existing chassis and thus any play with the rim sizes or tread width will compromise on the best-in-class handling performance of the Duke 200. However, what KTM can do is consider some alternative materials for the chassis construction. Moreover, with the Duke 180 sharing the same chassis as the Duke 200, it will help KTM to bring costs down.

Motor Bikes in India

Two wheelers as we already know are the most preferred and local means of transport vehicle used in India. It mainly includes scooters, mopeds, and bikes etc. These types of bike run on various types of conditions whether the roads are good or not. This is considered to be a primary means of transport for moving one place to another in rural as well as in urban cities and areas. The history of motor bikes was started way back on 1955, first time it is mainly used in the militaries by their soldiers for their some specific purposes. Their spare parts had been made in Chennai where these bikes are made and the machines are imported from United Kingdom which leads to the birth of motor bikes industry in India. Some of the bikes companies in India are Hero Honda, Yamaha etc. Royal Enfield is the first bike company in India which launched its first bike in 1963 called bullet 250 cc. In china it was first brought in 1800 AD. About 150 millions of bikes are manufactured in the world every year.
American people use less than 2 percent of their bikes in urban travels. 5 percent in Italy and 8 out of 10 people use bikes in Dutch and Netherlands. The tour de France is one of the most prestigious sports function of motor bikes held every year in France where most of the sports person takes place around all the corners of the world. Sitting capacity is small on the bikes but its effort is adorable and effective. Most of the parts assembled in the machines of the bikes are eco friendly and less polluted for the environment. Bajaj and Kawasaki are also reputed companies making bikes in India. Hero Honda launched its first fuel injected motor bikes in 1965 and these two companies merged with each other since from that day only. Motor parts still made in madras motors.
